Currently, the 9 holes of the Three Gorges Reservoir are accelerating flood discharge , and Chongqing, Hubei, Henan and other places have suffered floods . Floods may occur in the basins of China's seven major rivers .

Since June, many parts of China have been hit by heavy rains. As of the morning of July 15, the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River had increased its flood discharge to nine holes , causing flooding in many places downstream .
At 6:00 a.m. on July 16, the water level in Tuanzhou Dike was 31.99 meters, a cumulative decrease of 1.09 meters from when the breach was closed (water level was 33.08 meters).
According to the Hunan Provincial Hydrological Center's forecast, the water level of Dongting Lake is rising again due to the increased flood discharge from the Three Gorges Reservoir on the Yangtze River, and some hydrological stations may exceed the warning level. As of 9:00 on the 16th, the water level of Dongting Lake outside the Tuanzhouwan embankment was 0.44 meters higher than the accumulated water inside the embankment.
Ms. Liu from Fangcheng County, Nanyang, Henan: "At 3 o'clock in the evening (early morning), the water suddenly rose from the river bank and then flooded the village. They said (the last flood) was in 1975, but it was not this big."
A resident of Sheqi County, Nanyang, Henan Province: "Look, it's already past 2 o'clock in the morning. I can't sleep. I'm scared to death."
On July 15, torrential rains hit southwestern and central-eastern Henan, and parts of Nanyang, Zhoukou, and Xuchang. As of 9 a.m. on July 16, seven large reservoirs and 22 medium-sized reservoirs in Henan had exceeded flood limit water levels (exceeding the upper limit of the flood control period) and had started flood discharges one after another.
A resident of Sheqi County, Nanyang City, Henan Province said: "This is Century Square. The water is this deep even when you are standing on the steps. If you step down the curb, it should be up to your waist."
The Ministry of Water Resources of the Communist Party of China launched a Level IV emergency response for flood defense in Shandong and Henan provinces at 8 pm on July 15. It claimed that as of 8 pm on July 16, 75 rivers in 10 provinces and autonomous regions, including Anhui, Hubei, Henan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Yunnan, Xinjiang, Jilin and Heilongjiang, had experienced floods above the warning water level.
From the second half of July to the first half of August, floods are likely to occur in the basins of China's seven major rivers , and China may face a situation of multi-line flood defense.
At present, China's small and medium-sized reservoirs, dangerous (with problems) reservoirs, and silt dams are numerous and large in number, with low flood-resistance capabilities. In addition, there are many water conservancy projects under construction this year, and the risk of floods is high.
